In partnership with Zonta Club of Cebu II and Marco Polo Plaza, Cebu-based designer Ms. Jojo Martinez showcased 15 passementerie-inspired creations on a very successful fashion show held on August 11, 2016. The event officially launched a livelihood program which will hopefully create more jobs for local artisans and uplift the status of a community of women in Cebu through the art of passementerie – specifically crochet.
Cebu Fashion Bloggers were one of the sponsors for the said event so I tagged myself along with other established bloggers to watch the show, lucky for me =) Anyway, this event was like no other. Aside from its noble cause, it was also the first time I heard about crochets incorporated to wedding dresses. Sure we’ve seen a lot of crochet wonders at home, during music concerts or at the beach (like those pair of sexy bikinis in your closet), but for a bridal gown? It would be quite unorthodox, or so I thought…
Jojo Martinez just proved to us all that crochet is equally fabulous (or even more grandeur) than lace. This fashion show led me to believe that Cebuanos are not just talented but also have a great taste and has high regard to elegance and creativity. Check out some of my favorites during the show below:
